Our Vision -
Our vision at the Anne McHugh Educational Center is to offer our students the necessary behavioral and academic skills to successfully continue their education in the Holyoke Public School System. We provide an alternative educational setting for students who, for various reasons, have had significant difficulty functioning effectively in the traditional school setting. By utilizing behavioral modification programs and therapeutic intervention, students learn to function more effectively academically and socially in
the classroom setting.
Available Programs:
Holyoke Alternative Program
(Grades 6-8) – This alternative middle school program provides a highly structured environment for students who have had chronic behavioral issues in their regular middle school. It is a short-term program that provides academic exposure to all subjects in small classroom settings. A clinical team provides therapeutic intervention as needed to assist students in developing necessary social skills.

Latency Program –
This highly structured program provides a substantially separate setting for K-8 grade Special Education students whose emotional difficulties interfere with their ability to make effective academic progress in traditional classrooms. Structured routines, therapeutic intervention, behavior modification systems, and small classes all contribute to increasing the chances of academic success for these students.
Interim Alternative
Educational Setting –
This program provides 1.75 hours of instruction for all K-12 suspended students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). Students are assigned to sessions based on their current grade level. The referring school will provide work, prior to sending a student to this program.
