Attention HPS Staff who would like help with My Learning Plan (MLP) - Katie Moran, Director of Talent and Professional Development, will be hosting drop-in office hours for anyone who would like one-on-one support with MLP. Trainings will be at Holyoke High School, room #203 from 3:15 PM-4:15 PM on the following dates: March 4th, April 8th, May 6th, June 2nd.


Donahue School student wins the “Design a Float Competition”
Congratulations to Scott Leary, a sixth grade student from Donahue School, who won the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke’s “Design a FloatCompetition”.  Leary’s design will be used by Committee member, William Quesnel, to build the float for the Colleen and her court for this year’s Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Holyoke Public Schools receives District Review Report -
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Center for District and School Accountability has issued its District Review Report for the Holyoke Pubic Schools, a product of its most recent January review of the district. The District Review Report contains seventeen findings and six recommendations.

Graduation and dropout rates improve for the Holyoke Public School district -
The graduation rate for students completing high school in four years in 2014 was 60.2 percent, up from 53.8 percent the prior year, an increase of 6.4 percentage points. This represents the second highest graduation rate increase among gateway cities in Massachusetts. Additionally, the 2014 drop out rate of 6.4 percent, has improved by 2.7 percentage points from 2013. Read more.


Holyoke’s Kelly Full Service Community School offers support programs for parents -
There are many exciting programs for parents at the Kelly Full Service Community School in Holyoke, Massachusetts.  Some of the newer offerings include literacy and parenting classes as well as support services for parents that have relocated to Holyoke.  The Kelly School is working hard to create a family-friendly atmosphere that is conducive to learning for parents and caregivers as well as their children. Some of the highlights of the year thus far include Kelly’s Kindergarten Parent Academy and the Parent Support Group. Read more.

Broadway in Holyoke - March 12th-15th: Come and see The Wizard of OZ -from Thursday, March 12th through Sunday, March 15th in the John Sears Auditorium at Holyoke High School. Tickets for the production go on sale Monday, March 2nd and may be purchased at Holyoke High School and at The Cottage at 1615 Northampton Street. Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings are at 7:30 PM, and the performance on Sunday afternoon is at 2:00 PM. All seating is reserved. Golden Circle tickets for seats in the front three rows are $15 (no discounts). Tickets for adults are $10. Tickets for senior citizens, students and children are $8. Tickets for groups of 10 or more for any one of the performances are $8.
