Celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America
McMahon School celebrated National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss’ Birthday) on March 2nd by asking fellow community members to put aside the many hats that they wear for work and play and don the ultimate reading hat, the red and white striped stovepipe made famous by the Cat in The Hat.
Since this National Education Association’s (NEA) supported endeavor is designed to put every child in the company of a book, district staff and community partners were invited to read to students in all McMahon classrooms. Every child (401 students) in the school had the opportunity to enjoy a read aloud from a caring adult for at least thirty minutes on Wednesday, March 2nd at 9:30 AM.
