Community Activities and Enrichment

Peck is currently working to become a Full-Service Community School focused on collaborating with community-based organizations, colleges/universities, and other institutions and agencies in order to  provide as many programs and opportunities as possible in order to meet the aspirations and needs of our students and their families.  Some of the partnership projects in which we are currently engaged include:

  • Comprehensive after-school and summer programming, both on-site and in community settings, for students in grades 2 through 8
  • Classroom-based academic and arts enrichment
  • Early college awareness and high school readiness
  • One-on-one and small-group mentoring and tutoring
  • Intensive case management for approximately 30 families struggling with multiple, complex barriers to meeting their personal and educational goals for their children

Developmental Priorities for 2009-10 for our Full-Service Community School Project

  • Parent/family engagement and education
  • Basic needs support for families
  • Increasing tutor/mentor support for students
  • Academic support and enrichment
  • Arts integration
  • Initial planning groups focused on:  i) establishing a joint school/family approach to student behavior management; and ii) increasing access to opportunities for students to play sports
