February might be the shortest, coldest month of the year, but it’s also a month brimming with important celebrations – namely Black History Month. In addition to this important celebration, February also hosts National School Counseling Week and National Random Act of Kindness week. We will be celebrating all that February has to offer on our social media pages, and we hope that you will join in!
Read on for more details on how we will be celebrating – and how you can participate:
National Black History Month – We would like to share with our greater HPS community how families and students are honoring this important month. Whether it’s a book you’re reading to your student, a conversation you’re having with your family, or any other way you might be weaving Black History Month into your life, please share with us so we can celebrate Black History Month as a community!*
National School Counseling Week – February 1-5 is National School Counseling Week. We all know how invaluable school counselors are to our students and families. Help us honor your school counselor by sharing what you appreciate about the counselor at your school – and let’s celebrate our counselors the way they deserve!*
National Read Aloud Day – February 3rd is National Read Aloud Day. Take a video of your student reading aloud, and send it to us for us to share. Let’s celebrate literacy across our district!*
National Random Act of Kindness Week – February 14-20 is National Random Act of Kindness Week and we want to celebrate the unique kindness we often uncover in our school district. Please share a story of when you were on the receiving end of random acts of kindness – or when you yourself went out of your way to spread kindness.*
