High School Students Return to School Survey
Holyoke Public Schools is anticipating that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will be requiring all high schools to shift their learning model to full-time, in-person instruction five days per week for those who choose the in-person model. Families will still have the option to select a full remote learning model.
Your input is critical to help plan for in-person learning 5 days/week. We are asking all families to complete this survey https://bit.ly/3t7o2LT for each child in grade 9 through 12 by 4:00 p.m. on April 21, 2021 to indicate if your children will participate in in-person learning 5 days/week or if they will participate in full remote learning 5 days/week.
While a return date is not finalized for grades 9-12, we anticipate that high school students may return to in-person learning on May 10 (Opportunity Academy students may return May 5th).
Rigorous implementation of key safety protocols and procedures in Holyoke (air purifiers, enhanced cleaning protocols, sanitizing stations, mask compliance), will allow us to safely return students to in-person learning 5 days/week at 3-ft distancing (in accordance with DESE guidance) in classrooms when masks are worn. We will maintain the recommended 6 ft. distancing during all lunch periods or during mask breaks.
This survey is confidential and will inform the district’s planning to safely bring students back to in-person learning 5 days per week. Your selections will go into effect once we have received formal notice from DESE.
