Early Childhood Education

We are now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 School Year.  Apply Now! Application deadline for the Preschool Lottery is Friday, April 19th!

Apply Today!: English / Spanish OR complete online Application: English / Spanish

The Holyoke Public Schools offers free preschool in the Donahue, E.N. White, Kelly, Lawrence, McMahon, Metcalf, Morgan, and Sullivan schools. To apply for the Preschool lottery for SY19-20, students MUST be 3 years old on or before September 1, 2019 and be a resident of Holyoke. There are no school choice slots available for preschool. Space is limited and enrollment for students without an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is determined by a lottery. Students will be given priority, but not a guarantee, in the lottery for their zone school. Visit http://hosting.tighebond.com/hps to find your school zone based on your residential address. Families may inquire about space for students turning 3 years old after September 1st once the student has turned 3. Based on available space, the student can be enrolled or placed on the waitlist at that time.

**Students with an IEP do not need to fill out this application and should make an appointment for enrollment by calling (413) 534-2000.

PLEASE NOTE:  There is only one preschool classroom at Metcalf and it is part of the Dual Language program. If you are interested in the Dual Language program, you will need to submit that application separately. You can find that application here: https://www.hps.holyoke.ma.us/choose-hps/register-your-student/

Please call the Student Enrollment and Family Empowerment Center at 413-534-2000 x1102 or x1103 for an appointment.

To complete enrollment at HPS, families must bring the following documentation (see more details in the application packet):

  • Completed Application
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Child’s physical health exam (within the last year), including lead test
