What is Language Access?
In the Holyoke Public School district, we want all parents and legal guardians to benefit from meaningful participation in the education of their child. No one should have to seek language assistance from family, friends or children in order to communicate with their school. That’s why at HPS, we put an emphasis on language access.
Language access helps parents and legal guardians with limited English to be able to communicate effectively with the school staff by providing translation (written) and interpretation (spoken) services when needed. The language access guide explains our guiding principles as well as the procedures we follow to deliver translation and interpretation services to all families who need them.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
