The Office of Professional Learning (OPL)
The Office of Professional Learning (OPL) works to ensure Holyoke’s educators have the knowledge and skills needed to drive student learning, growth and achievement by providing timely, collaborative, high-quality learning experiences that strengthen teaching practice and build leadership capacity resulting in a thriving workplace. Professional development is aligned with the district’s Turnaround Plan, builds off of previous professional learning, and is followed up with more learning opportunities such as individualized coaching, creating a cohesive learning loop.
The 2020-2021 school year has started remotely for most students attending Holyoke Public Schools. Additionally, district professional development will be held remotely via Zoom until in-person restrictions and limitations are lifted in the district.
District Professional Development
All staff attending district PD sessions are expected to register for their sessions through TeachPoint prior to the start date of each session. Staff will not be allowed to attend a PD session until they are registered for the session in TeachPoint. Any staff that has not registered for PD by the day the sessions begin will have to register with the Extended Learning Team. All staff are expected to arrive on time to sessions so that presenters and facilitators can begin and end on time. Sessions will begin promptly at the designated start time.
Attendance will be taken at the beginning and end of each session to verify attendance for Professional Development Point (PDP) purposes. All feedback forms will be completed and submitted electronically online through TeachPoint. Once PD feedback forms are completed and submitted via TeachPoint, PDP certificates will be sent to the PD tracker for each participant in TeachPoint.
