Peck Middle School welcomed families, students, and staff on Thursday, May 27 for the school’s inaugural Fine Arts Day and Concert dedicated to celebrating students' achievements and the diverse programs the school has to offer. Organizers hope the event will become an annual tradition going forward.
The school-wide showcase highlighted the talents and opportunities available to students across art, music, STEM, physical education, culinary, world languages, athletics, and student clubs.
Guests arriving for the event were immediately immersed in a vibrant and interactive atmosphere, encountering first a bake sale to support student programs and informational tables featuring student clubs, academic programs, and student support resources. The physical education department hosted interactive displays highlighting fitness, wellness, and athletics.
Hallways throughout the school were transformed into walk-through galleries that displayed student artwork, leading visitors into the outside courtyard performance space.
Cultural performances included student dancers celebrating cultural heritage through music and dance. In addition, there were student musical performances from participants in the contemporary strings band, bowed strings band, and winds band.
“These students have been working very hard,” said interim music teacher David Herrera. “Today is the first day they were all able to come together and play as a band. I could not be more proud of them.”
