Seven students sitting at a long table

Eight HPS graduating seniors were honored during an awards ceremony on Friday, May 12, for earning a Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diplomas. Three of the eight were awarded Seals of Biliteracy with Distinction for their high achievements.

This year’s recipients recipients include:

  • Gabriela Brigantty Davila (HHS North)

  • Lakeisha Cubero Montanez (HHS North)

  • Aolanis Figueroa Pinto (HHS North)

  • Willie Lopez Morales (HHS North)—with Distinction

  • Shadai Mota Puello (HHS Opportunity Academy-Lighthouse)—with Distinction

  • Jennylee Ojeda Colon (HHS North)

  • Ruth Ortiz Torres (HHS Dean)—with Distinction

  • Nashalie Reyes (HHS Dean)

The Massachusetts Seal of Biliteracy was established in November 2017 to recognize graduating high school students who are proficient in English and one or more other languages. This seal is considered a statement of accomplishment and indication of a student’s readiness for career and college.

As HPS continues to expand our Dual Language Program, we hope more students will have the opportunity to earn a Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diplomas. Interested students should contact their school guidance counselor for information about how to earn this recognition.
