Holyoke High School’s North Campus, Dean Campus, and Opportunity Academy were recently awarded continued accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
This voluntary accreditation process is designed to support school improvement through self-reflection, peer review visits, and continued professional growth. NEASC provides schools with a framework to identify strengths and areas for improvement while supporting and maximizing high-quality teaching and learning.
“Congratulations to everyone on this tremendous accomplishment,” said School Committee Chair Dr. Yadilette Rivera Colon. “This achievement reflects years of thoughtful planning, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It is truly something to celebrate, and a great testament to the collective commitment to providing our students with an excellent educational experience.”
The three high school campuses have now completed the first two phases of the accreditation process: self-reflection and 10-year renewal accreditation. The next steps will focus on continued growth and improvement as the schools begin to implement their growth and improvement plans based on priority areas identified through the accreditation process, which began in 2022.
Following a recent visit to the schools, NEASC representatives recognized “the wide range of interventions and strategies to support student learning and achievement, the multilingual support strategies in academic content areas, and the commitment of school leaders to develop programs, interventions, and strategies” among the standout areas and strengths within the three schools.
