Holyoke Public Schools is seeking volunteers to join a Music Programming Work Group that will help support the district’s efforts to strengthen music education—with a focus on both curriculum alignment and equity in access—across grade levels and schools.
“We want to ensure we are offering musical experiences that build skills and a love for music within the district’s resources and in the context of our existing enrichment and elective offerings,” said HPS Executive Director of Academics Rebecca Thompson. She is partnering with Chief of Strategy Erin Linville and Music Department Chair Bridget Ambers to facilitate the work of the Music Programming Work Group.
Anyone interested in serving on the work group is asked to complete an application by December 17. The full job description can be found here. Work group participants will be selected by December 21. The group will then meet for five afternoon sessions beginning January 15 and ending April 2. The group’s work will be used to develop a three-to-five-year music strategy and a one-year action plan to support and strengthen K-12 music education in Holyoke.
