Cafeteria employee handing fruit to students

Under the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service’s Community Eligibility Program, every student who attends Holyoke Public Schools is eligible to receive free breakfasts and lunches every school day.

Under this program, HPS families do not need to fill out an application to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. All students are welcome to enjoy nutritious school meals that feature a wide variety of appealing foods every day, including fresh fruits and vegetables such as melons, berries, pineapples, celery and carrots, as well as salad bars at every school.

To help families plan ahead, breakfast and lunch menus are posted on the district website as well as on each school’s home page. Daily menus can also be found on the district’s mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App store or Google Play.

Beyond the Bell Program

HPS offers snacks and dinners to students in the Beyond the Bell Program, an after-school enrichment program at Donahue, Lawrence, and Morgan schools. Menus can be found here.

Weekend Backpack Program

Families from HPS experiencing food instability can seek assistance from their school's Family and Community Engagement team members. By communicating their needs, students or families can receive a bag of essential grocery items every Friday at dismissal. This program is open all year long and is designed to support families over the weekend. For more information, send Rey Figueroa an email.

Meal Modifications

Holyoke Public Schools will provide meal modifications to students who cannot consume the meal components required by the USDA. Please contact your school nurse or call the Sodexo Food Service Office at (413) 534-2000, Extension 1651 to discuss your student's dietary needs.
