The City of Holyoke, Holyoke Public Schools, and the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) are working together to try to build a new school for approximately 550 students in grades 6-8 on the site where the current Peck School stands.

In January, the city signed a contract with the Mount Vernon Group for schematic design services. The architectural firm is now working on a proposed building design for the new school. The city expects to submit the completed schematic design to the MSBA on April 26 for their review and consideration.

In order for this project to move forward, both the City Council and the MSBA must agree to pay for a portion of the costs. The MSBA will vote in June, and the City Council is expected to vote soon after that.
