Jackie Glasheen

HPS Superintendent Anthony Soto announced on Monday, May 5 that Jacqueline Glasheen has accepted the position of assistant superintendent, effective June 1. In this role, she will be responsible for the district’s instructional vision and implementation. She will supervise academics, school leadership, and pupil services.

“Ms. Glasheen is a beloved member of our community. Her past experiences, commitment to Holyoke, belief in our students and educators, and passion for learning make her the ideal person to be Holyoke’s next assistant superintendent,” Mr. Soto said in making the announcement. Ms. Glasheen is an HPS graduate who attended E.N. White, Kelly, Lynch, and Holyoke High School while a student in the district. She is a proud parent of three HPS graduates and a longtime HPS employee.

Dr. Stephen Mahoney is stepping down from his role as assistant superintendent at the end of the school year to return to his passion of serving as a principal. He will take on that role at Veritas Prep High School in his hometown of Springfield. 

Ms. Glasheen began her career at Holyoke Public Schools in 1992 as a special education teacher at Lynch Middle School. She also served as assistant principal at Kelly and Morgan schools and principal of Kelly and E.N. White schools. Since 2021, she has been an executive director of school leadership developing, supporting, and supervising principals and ensuring effective implementation of the HPS instructional vision. 

Mrs. Glasheen obtained her Bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Salve Regina University and her Masters degree in Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She continuously seeks opportunities to grow her own instructional leadership to ensure her practice meets the needs of today's students in urban education. She was selected to be a fellow in the highly competitive and sought after Leverage Leadership Institute and has also participated in learning through the National Institute for School Leadership, Building Excellent Schools, the Standards Institute, National Principal Supervisors Academy, and the Relay Graduate School of Education.
