The Holyoke School Committee voted this week to open a national search for a permanent superintendent to be in place for July 1, 2026, with assistance from an external search consultant.
The next step will be for School Committee Vice Chair Dr. Yadilette Rivera Colón to develop a proposal to solicit bids from potential search partners. She is expected to have that proposal in place by the next School Committee meeting set for August 11. The School Committee plans to start the search process this fall, with candidate interviews and site visits to take place beginning in January 2026.
Eric Weiss, a member of the consulting team hired to lead the Community Action Team (CAT), also presented a final report to the School Committee. During the past six months, the CAT team met six times to help the School Committee gather community input and identify the skills and qualities important for the position of superintendent.
