William G. Morgan Elementary School welcomes a new principal with a familiar face: Ryan Carrie.
Mr. Carrie joined the Morgan community in 2023 as assistant principal and has served as interim principal since late February following the departure of former principal Sacha Garcia-Mailloux who left for a position with Springfield Public Schools.
“We have a deep bench of talent in Holyoke Public Schools,” said Interim Superintendent Anthony Soto. “After undergoing a comprehensive selection process, I am pleased that Mr. Carrie emerged as the top candidate to be the next principal of Morgan. He is a dedicated instructional and cultural leader who is deeply committed to the success and well-being of Morgan’s students, families, and staff.”
Mr. Carrie first joined Holyoke Public Schools in 2022 as the dean of management and operations at Sullivan School. He also served as a grade 5 teacher in Springfield Public Schools and worked in youth development in Springfield and Boston.
“During his time at Morgan, Mr. Carrie has strengthened instructional systems and school culture by promoting high-quality teaching and learning, leveraging data to inform instruction, and implementing systems that support student belonging, attendance, and family engagement,” Mr. Soto added.
Mr. Carrie is thrilled to continue his leadership as Morgan School’s new principal. He recognizes the importance of building systems that support both academic and social-emotional growth and having a mindset of continuous improvement.
“The Morgan community is very special, and I look forward to working with our students, families, and staff to continue to foster a strong sense of belonging,” he said.
Mr. Carrie holds a master of education in special education and a bachelor’s degree in youth development from Springfield College. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and time with his two goldendoodles, Oliver and Olivia.
