Holiday break schedule for students

As the end-of-year holidays draw near, families are reminded of the importance for their children to be in school on time every day that classes are in session.

“We encourage every student to make daily attendance and punctuality a high priority, beginning in pre-kindergarten and all the way through high school,” said Executive Director of the Student and Family Experience Steve Moguel. “We know there is a direct correlation between regular school attendance and our students’ overall academic achievement and sense of belonging.”

Families are asked to plan vacations and family get-togethers during scheduled school holidays to help ensure their children avoid missing time at school. “Student learning happens every day that school is in session,” Mr. Moguel said, “even during weeks that have a holiday. That’s why we encourage our families to support good attendance every day of the school year.”

Upcoming school holidays include:

  • Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28, Thanksgiving Break

  • Wednesday, December 24 through Monday, January 6, Winter Break, professional development days, and Three Kings Day

  • Monday, January 19, Martin Luther King Day

More information about the importance of good attendance, district attendance policies, and resources can be found on the district website.

Reminder: HPS is closed on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
