During a recent celebration event for LightHouse Holyoke, the father of an Opportunity Academy student was one of the guest speakers who shared inspiring stories, telling attendees about his son’s transformational experiences through his participation in the LightHouse program.
Once a struggling student, Jhaydon Santiago is now taking college classes and is set to graduate in June with a Holyoke High School diploma, which his father Damasco Santiago said is thanks to the LightHouse program. Jhaydon is one of about 30 Holyoke Public Schools students who attends Lighthouse through a partnership between Lighthouse and the district. LightHouse emphasizes student agency, restorative practices, social justice, and high-interest academic programming.
