Holyoke Public Schools has selected 12 middle school students to receive one of the district’s most prestigious honors for students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills, and community involvement.
The district’s Rising Stars program will celebrate its 31st annual awards with a ceremony on Thursday, June 5 in the Sullivan School cafeteria. There to cheer on this year’s Rising Stars will be family members, principals, school FACE team members, Mayor Joshua Garcia, as well as other school and city leaders—along with the Sullivan cheerleading team who will share some of their high-energy routines and positive vibes.
The cafeteria will be transformed into a colorful event space, with balloons, stars, and decorated table settings plus a catered dinner for all participants.
“We are so very proud of our Rising Stars for their scholarship, leadership, and citizenship,” said Superintendent Anthony Soto. “They are all role models and leaders with bright futures ahead. They have worked hard and have prioritized their education, which we can see clearly in their successes in and out of their classrooms.”
