We serve approximately 200 high school age students who are off-track—over-age under-credit, have previously dropped out or are at high risk of dropping out—who wish to complete their requirements for a high school diploma or Hi-Set (commonwealth-granted diploma equivalency.)
Our three campuses each have their own cultures and curricula. Across all three campuses, we strive to treat our students like young adults, capable of making good academic and social decisions for themselves. Our students take the initiative to make young-adult decisions about their education and pathway to graduation.
OA offers: Project-Based and Personalized Learning Curriculum ~ Competency-Based Advancement (progress at the student's own pace) ~ Work 2 Credit (Work-Based Learning, ~ Internships and Apprenticeships) ~ Dual-Enrollment ~ Access to all Holyoke High School Extracurriculars
OA incorporates a competency-based education approach and project-based learning to provide rigorous, robust, and relevant learning experiences for our diverse learners. We believe it is critical for our instructional and school culture practices to adapt to the student rather than the student adapting to the model.
