Holyoke children and teens can pick up free healthy meals each weekday at eight locations within the city this summer! Holyoke Public School’s Summer Eats program is offered in partnership with Sodexo from now through August 16.
Let's do some math with... games! 🎲
Games are a great way to sharpen your child's math skills while school is out. Some games (which you might already have at home!) that incorporate math include Monopoly, Rummikub, Yahtzee, Sequence Numbers, Tenzi, Phase 10, and Farkle. There are also several fun online resources that your child may have access to with their school login, including Zearn, Prodigy Game, Sumdog, and Splash Math. Attendees, including students, family, and friends, enjoyed a delightful dinner at the award ceremony. To cap off the evening, an ice cream truck made a sweet stop, treating everyone to cool desserts!🍦

It was fun for all at the first-ever Holyoke Elementary Farm Fun Fair! 🧑🌾 Students and families that attended the event at Donahue School were entertained, educated, and nourished thanks to FoodCorps, who hosted the event. Representatives from local food nonprofits shared resources and seeds, while kids enjoyed activities like “pin the tomato on the vine” and decorating garden stones. The HPS food truck was on site to serve a taco dinner with locally-sourced ingredients.

As part of the TRAILS Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that has been implemented district-wide this year, Morgan students are exploring a variety ways to manage stress. During a recent classroom discussion, a group of second-graders shared some of their favorite stress-relief tactics, including deep breathing and tracing their hands.
Kelly students played soccer the bionic way! ⚽ The Bionic Project paid a visit to students to talk about inclusion at school, especially regarding ability and disability. Students then led conversations about what improvements they could make at school to make learning, play, and clubs more accessible for everyone before getting to enjoy a game of soccer—with a challenge! The guests from the Bionic Project challenged grade 5 students to play on one leg, making the game most students know into a new challenge.
Holyoke Public Schools is offering free summer meals for children and teens under the age of 18 throughout the summer. We need your help in picking when and where we should provide these meals to ensure we are selecting the most convenient times and locations, so please complete this short meals preference survey.
