E.N. White students share production of folk tale with School Committee

Students in the Dual Language program at E.N. White School recorded their interpretation of “La Cucharachita Martina”—a popular Cuban and Puerto Rican children’s folk talk about a little roach’s journey to find true love—which was publicly shared during the March 20 HPS School Committee meeting.

Second grader Clare Craven and fourth grader Myles Weiss introduced the video before it was shown, speaking eloquently in both English and Spanish. They are part of Club de Lectura/Spanish Reading Club led by E.N. White first grade teacher Ms. Nitza Ortíz and third grade teacher Mr. Kevin Saéz. The club’s mission is to create readers capable of understanding the author’s vision through learning, fun, and expanding the social space of communication.
