A view of the new Peck Middle School from above

This aerial view of the new Peck Middle School construction site shows how the landscape around the new building has changed over recent months. In a few weeks, some community members will see the school’s nearly complete interior during a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for the middle of August. From there, it will be less than two weeks before the school welcomes students for the start of the 2025-26 school year.

While the countdown to the school’s opening continues, the construction site remains buzzing with excitement—and the sounds of work crews—as the project’s general contractor and subcontractors continue to make progress.

From the beginning, the new school has been designed to be bright, airy, functional, and fun, offering inspiring learning spaces tailored to meet the needs of 550 students in grades 6-8.

Since the groundbreaking ceremony on March 8, 2024, the project has remained on schedule and within budget to ensure the new school is ready for use by August 2025. This was made possible by project contractors, subcontractors, and Holyoke staff who have been working overtime to make it happen.

The new Peck School will be substantially completed and ready to open in late August. While there will still be some finishing work that needs to be completed after the building opens, all learning spaces should be ready for students and staff to begin using on opening day.
