The $85.5-million project was officially approved in June 2023 by the City of Holyoke and the MSBA. From the outset, the City of Holyoke was responsible for paying approximately $27.1 million and the MSBA will reimburse approximately $58.4 million. However, the total cost of the project turned out to be less than the original estimate, with the City of Holyoke’s share now estimated at approximately $20.2 million, although figures will not be finalized until later next year.
