When Yasani Thompson walked into her recent signing ceremony at Holyoke High School North, she did so as a two-time “Super 7” honoree, a MIAA Division 3 state champion, and one of the premier sprinters in Massachusetts. On that day, she hit another milestone in her athletics career: Yasani signed the paperwork to compete in Division I track and field at Bryant University when she begins her college studies this fall.
As a member of the class of 2026, Yasani has collected a wide range of wins: This past indoor season, Yasani won the 300-meter title at the MIAA Division 3 Indoor Track and Field Championships with a personal best time of 40.59 seconds, entering as the fifth seed and shattering her previous season best by nearly a second and a half. She also swept the 55 meter dash PVIAC Valley Championship in both events. In addition, she earned a berth in the New Balance Indoor Nationals 2026.
During the Bryant signing ceremony in March, Yasani credited her coaches for helping shape as both an athlete and as a leader. She also thanked her parents for their unwavering support and her teammates for pushing her to be better everyday.
