HPS students and staff are preparing for fun classroom and school activities as part of Halloween celebrations in the coming week.

“Costumes are always optional for our HPS students,” said Superintendent Jackie Glasheen. “For those who do wish to wear a costume at school, we ask families to follow a few guidelines to support both safety and learning.”

Costume safety guidelines include:

  • No weapons, toy weapons, or props replicating weapons are permitted on school grounds at any time of the year—so these should not be part of Halloween costumes worn at school.

  • Costumes must be comfortable to wear during classroom learning. Costumes should not interfere with the wearer’s vision, movement, or classroom activities.

  • A student’s identity must not be obscured, so avoid costumes that completely cover a child’s face, head, and body.

If you are not sure if your child’s costume plans are appropriate for wearing during the school day, please call your school office.
