Eighth graders at Peck and Sullivan Middle Schools will soon be weighing their options as they prepare for entering high school next year. There are a wide range of options available at Holyoke High School’s North campus and Dean Tech campus.
Holyoke High’s North campus offers a comprehensive academic program featuring three linked-learning academies that focus on a specific series of courses, projects, and work-based experiences. These academies include Engineering & Life Sciences, Community & Global Studies, and Performing & Media Arts. For students who wish to attend HHS North for 9th grade, there is nothing you need to do at this time.
Dean Tech offers 10 Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, including Advanced Manufacturing, Auto Collision, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Early Education & Care, Diesel Technology, Electrical, Health Assisting, and Programming and Web Development. Students who wish to apply for admission to Dean Tech must submit a completed application by mid-winter. The closing date will be announced soon. There will be 130 seats available for incoming ninth graders next year, and all 130 of those slots will be filled via lottery.
Student tours of both high school campuses are coming up soon. Eighth graders from Peck Middle School will visit North on Tuesday, November 10, and they will visit Dean on Thursday, November 12. Eighth graders from Sullivan Middle School will visit North on Monday, November 9 and Dean on Friday, November 13.
